Bio

Doctor Chattoo was trained in New York City at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Manhattan Campus in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and ERCP. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Chattoo works in an academic institution and has had several papers published and presented at National Gastroenterology conferences. He is an expert and speaker on a variety of topics including, Hepatitis B and C, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.

Background and Educational Information

Dr. Prem Chattoo completed his undergraduate education at New York University in 1993. Graduating with honors, he went on to attend the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. It was there that he received his degree in Osteopathic Medicine, specializing in Gastroenterology. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Chattoo took this expertise and completed his residency at Winthrop University Hosptial in 1998. Prominent among his class, Dr. Chattoo was offered a clinical fellowship at Saint Vincent's Medical Center (Manhattan Campus). It was there he underwent special gastroenterology training and completed his time there in 2005.

Dr. Chattoo was a board certified in internal medicine while at his clinical fellowship in 2001. After completing his time at Saint Vincent's, Dr. Chattoo was certified by the board of Gastroenterology as well. Today, Dr. Chattoo practices Gastroenterology and Weight loss procedures at Hudson River Gastroenterology, located in lower Manhattan (Financial District) and New Jersey.

He also received a clinical fellowship from St. Vincent's Medical Center (Manhattan campus) from 2001-2005. The doctor is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Gastritis, colon polyps, GERD, rectal bleeding, IBS (Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome), bloating, Crohn's disease, acid reflux, hemorrhoids, constipation, and diarrhea cases are seen on a daily basis. He understands his patients' frustrations and does everything he possibly can to find and treat the cause of their discomfort. Using various diagnostic tools like the PillCam, the ORBERA Intragastric Balloon, colonoscopies, and EGD or Upper Endoscopic procedures, Dr. Chattoo is able to diagnose many common conditions and put treatment plans in place right away.
